Day 1 Guangzhou Airport or Train Station Pick-up, Visit Yuexiu Park & Shamian Island
Upon your arrival in Guangzhou, your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport or high-speed train station and escort you downtown to start your 3 days Guangzhou city tour!
Our first stop will be the Yuexiu Park, a historic urban park in the heart of Guangzhou. Let’s climb the Hundred-Step Staircase, flanked by lush trees and vermilion streetlights, to visit the square-tapered Sun Yat-sen Monument, decorated with 26 sheep-head stone carvings. Wander deeper and touch the weathered, centuries-old city walls, where you can behold ancient banyan roots clinging to grey bricks. Then, admire the iconic Five-Ram Sculpture: the central ram holds rice spikes in its mouth, surrounded by four playful companions. Your guide will tell you that a legend behind it goes like this: five immortals arrived here on five goats of different colors, gave rice ears to the people, and blessed the land with endless harvests. Then the immortals flew away, leaving the goats turned to stone to guard this place. This is also why Guangzhou has been known as ‘Goat City’.
★ Special Inclusion: Explore the Guangzhou Museum, housed within the iconic Zhenhai Tower. This five-story crimson tower offers a deep dive into the city’s historical heritage and spectacular views of the Yuexiu Park.
Afterward, saunter around Shamian Island, hailed as an ‘Open-Air Architecture Museum’, to catch a glimpse of European buildings from the 19th to early 20th centuries. Along the Shamian Avenue, the former HSBC architecture in Neo-Baroque style will first catch your eye: exquisite reliefs, upright columns, and western classical pediments exude a perfect mix of elegance and grandeur. With your guide, continue further to the Notre Dame Hall of Luther Catholic Church, a local religious landmark. The moment you step inside, this 1865 Gothic building, in a white-yellowish cloak, immerses you in a sacred and tranquil feeling. Sunshine slants through stained-glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of light and shadow, while murals on the dome unfold biblical tales. After the visit, your guide and driver will escort you to your hotel for check-in.
► Recommended Nighttime Activities (at your own expense):
Should you wish to discover something enjoyable at night, take a 25-minute taxi ride by yourself to Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, a bustling commercial hub in Guangzhou. Witness the iconic Great Buddha Temple, ablaze with warm yellow light, strikingly like the bathhouse in the Japanese animated movie Spirited Away. Wander along the ruins of millennia-old ancient roads, where the city’s central axis runs through, and you’ll witness 11 layers of brick road surface, which is the most direct evidence of Guangzhou’s over 2,000 years of urban changes. Also, soak up the lively vibe of the night stalls and savor various authentic Cantonese dishes, such as rice cooked in a clay pot.

Day 2 Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Mausoleum of Nanyue King, Temple of Six Banyan Trees, Canton Tower
Chen Clan Ancestral Hall
● The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall is closed on Tuesdays.
Next, let’s dive into the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, an archaeological site museum built atop the well-preserved tomb of the second king of an ancient kingdom that existed right here over 2,000 years ago. Here, get lost in a stunning collection of exquisite cultural treasures. Appreciate the world-famous Jade Burial Suit Sewn with Silk Threads, the earliest complete imperial burial suit made of nearly 2,300 pieces of green jade ever discovered in China, and you’ll be overwhelmed by the king’s majestic presence. Also, take a moment to observe the Tiger-Shaped Token, an ancient symbol of royal authority. Its gold-inlaid inscription on the bronze still shimmers brilliantly under the lighting even after thousands of years.
● Standard tours typically stop only at the tomb site; if you’d like to see more, we can add a visit to the palace site 10 minutes' drive away to your itinerary at no extra cost.
After that, we’ll make our way to the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, founded in 537 AD to enshrine Buddhist relics from Cambodia. The temple is famed for its red-and-white Flower Pagoda, which gets its name from its vibrant colors and intricate decorations that, when viewed from above, resemble a blooming lotus flower. As the soft breeze blows, wind chimes from the nine-story eaves jingle musically, as if narrating its 1,500 years of history.
After tracing the city’s history, let’s move to the Flower City Square to see what Guangzhou looks like now. Here, you can enjoy a wide assortment of sky-scraping modern buildings: the slender Canton Tower, the treasure-box-inspired Guangdong Museum, and the two-smooth-pebble-shaped Guangzhou Opera House. Finally, your guide and driver will escort you back to your hotel.
